Fun Facts:
It is said that the 19th century cartoonist, Thomas Nast, was the first to envision Santa Claus living at the North Pole. He created a series of drawings for Harper's Weekly depicting a jolly Santa living in Santa Clausville, North Pole.
Nast also brought about the imagery of Santa and Mrs. Claus living happily in the North.
In the feature "Santa Claus and His Works" Nast illusrated Santa with a workshop of toys, watching from a telescope, decorating a Christmas Tree, sewing dolls by hand and writing a naughty and nice ledger.
Thomas Nast's vision of Santa Claus solidified a uniquely American version of the story that is still celebrated today.
